Halfling

The halflings are a humanoid race, similar in shape to humans but around half their size, primarily dwelling along the eastern coast of Tralnair, but have also spread and have scattered societies found throughout all the lands of Palodar. The halflings have many names throughout the lands, with shortfolk and short ones being the most commonly used.

Halfling communities are usually tight-knit societies with different communities often located nearby one another, sometimes being established near settlements of other races. Outsiders who visit these societies are often seen as unwelcome by the halflings as they are outside the typical norm.

The halflings that have established themselves into other races' communities are met with a wide variety of reactions, from being most welcome in some cases to mistrust and discrimination in others. Because of this, Halflings within larger societies often stick close together. When in larger societies, halflings will often be found in the roles of cooks, farmers, thieves for hire or spies.

In many ways, halflings resemble small humans and usually share the same proportions as the typical human adult, except for their feet which are slightly larger in proportion and have tough leathery soles. Most halflings have dark hair and eyes, regardless of their skin complexion, which share similar range to humans.

The term "halfling" originated from the fact that a halfling was around half of the size of a human, but theirr appearance otherwise is very similar.

Atultwean

Due to the size and differences in every kingdom, there is no set standard for how the military is viewed. Each kingdom will have its own different military and militia views, as some will be a military state kingdom, whereas some will solely rely on able-bodied militias to defend their lands.

It is common to see each major city have its own military which will also be responsible for the protection and law-keeping of not only their city but also the city-state surrounding.

Smaller towns may have a full unit of official city-state guards as well as a number of able-bodied people who are able to bear arms.
